Cone Beam CT

Cone Beam CT at Glen Cove

Nowadays patients have access to the procedures they might not imagine having a few decades ago all because of advances in modern dentistry. Lifelike cosmetic reconstruction, advanced surgical procedures, and dental implants allow individuals to achieve the smiles of their dreams and maintain oral health.

Improved digital images provide better views of the facial structures covered by the soft tissues of the mouth or skin. One technical tool that has given dentists access to great quality images is the three-dimensional CBCT (Cone Beam Computed Tomography) scanner.

At One and Truly Dental, Glen Cove, we have (PAX i3D Smart (Cone Beam CT system). As the CBCT images provide 3-D images instead of 2-D provided by a traditional X-ray image, this helps with better diagnosis, evaluation, and treatment planning.

Dr.Chitvan Gupta and her team of expert dentists are committed to delivering the highest quality of care while caressing the medical technology present today. We are one of the few offices in Glen Cove to have a Cone Beam CT scanner. This advanced technology promotes our ability to examine, diagnose, analyze, speculate, and plan our surgical therapeutic results.

We are focused to make your dental experience as comfortable as possible. We are happy to answer your questions.

How Cone Beam CT System Works?

Cone Beam CT is a quantum leap forward in technology and precision of diagnosis. It offers the ability to visualize complicated structures such as nerves, root canals, and sinuses in the jaw without any kind of surgery. CBCT shortens the treatment time. It reduces the need for invasive procedures and offers a better outcome.

Like visible light, X-rays are a form of energy that penetrates a bone and soft tissue and reveal its hidden structure by their ability to absorb at varying degrees. Conventional X-rays only show one perspective on the scene is quite limited. If you put a series of X-ray slices on a flipbook, taken at different angles, it will form some animation of the X-rays. It’s now only one step behind becoming a 3-D image.

This is the job completed by the CBCT scanners. It uses a rotating imaging device that moves around the head of the patient, the scanner records 150 and 600 different X-ray angles in under sixty seconds. Then the computer processes the data and results in the creation of the virtual model of the area under consideration. A 3-D model then appears on a computer screen. The same can be rotated up and down or side to side, manipulated in several ways without any discomfort caused to the patient.

Where Cone Beam CT is used?
